The other week, BBC radio 7 played an episode of Stephen Fry’s 1980s radio programme Saturday Night Fry, a sort of precursor to the wonderful Bit of Fry and Laurie on TV, with Hugh Laurie, Emma Thomson and Jim Broadbent. I had a look around the interweb, and found that some kind soul has posted mp3s of all six
episodes. They work just as well as parodies of present-day radio as they did then, and the names are still wonderful (I may have my name changed to Frillidy Waistsplender (Mrs) by deed poll). I particularly liked the opera director with the ground-breaking production of La Traviata set in mid-19th century Paris.
I suppose everyone has seen the Sony ad with the rabbits. I didn’t like it quite as much as the previous ones, maybe because it gets too complicated at the end, but there seems to be another one set in Egypt. A bit strange, since it only seems to be on youtube, not on the Sony site, but nice. I wonder how they got all the string off the pyramid afterwards (if it wasn’t all CGI). I got this from the lovely Fabulist, along with this sweet little animated film about people’s first crushes.
And, via Making Light, here is some very good news indeed, and this year’s obligatory Halloween collection of strange things you can do with pumpkins.
Also, for any squid fanciers out there - a useful whisk.
